Received Friday, 7 p.m. CANBFRRA, July 30. One hundred sten guns with ammuni ion are due to arrive at Singajiore to dav by air from Australia, according t. a statement by Mr. Chifley. The gua are part of a consignment of arnis heid 111 Australia sinee the end of hostili tles, on behalf of the British Wai UHiee. In addition Ihe United King ilom lias asked Australia whether she us nrepared to supplv other automali vveapons, ammunition and equipmem for Malaya. The request will be cou sidered by Cabinet on ^Tonday. 1 i\Ir. Chifley said that the United Kingdom had approaehed Australia at Ihe request of the Maiayan Oovernment. The equipment souglit from Australia was needed for the maintenance of law ind order. In addition to the sten pins and ammunition, some other items if equipment went 011 the plane due at Bingapore today, for testing purposes .Mr. Chifley added that the extent tc which itenis required by Malaya, might be available in Australia, was benio argently examincd.
