Weapons To Be Co-ordinated By Western Union
Received Friday, 7 p.m. LONDON, July 30. The British aireraft industrv is •xpecting large orders for jet flghten to equip the Air Forces of Western Europe, states the New-Ohronicle 's air .•orrespondent. Steps are being taken 11 Britain, Belgium, France, "Ilolland and Luxemburg— five Western Union 'ountries — to coordinate their militar\ forces ro that tliey will use standardisod weapons and equipment. America and Britain are the only two countries building modern aireraft in large 1111111 bers and it seems tliat they will together supply the planes. Britain is tc orovide jet" fighters and America bombers. France, the eorrespondent understands, will order de -Tlavilland Vam pires, Oloster ^Teteors and Supermarine Attackers. The Attacker is not yet in service but it is under consideration by the Navy. Belgium also favours Attackers. ilolland is expeeted to ordei more Meteors. Switzerland, Sweden and Norway kave also placed lai'ge orders for de Havilland Mampires.
