GALLOWAY WAS BACKBONE OF HOROWHENUA TEAM

By far the most outstanding player of the day was W. Galloway whose fine kicking, fast playing and i solid tackiing made him a greai iasset to the Horowhenua team. i Possessing a wealth of speed and , manoeuvrability, which is invaluabie in offensive play, Galloway is aiso solid in defence, holding his positlon 'and tackiing hard. His long kickg to the line are pretty to watch. But for his kicking for Horowhenua on Saturday, Bush might still be holding the 'Bebbington Shield, for he secured the six points with two penalties. D. Pederson played a reliable game and dispiayed accuracy in his kicking. He was worth his place in the team and should do be'tter- as the season processes, Gedff Sciascia, one' of the fittest and f astest on the field, was at home as wing, his side-stepping when at top speed being particuiariy praiseworthy. H. Heremaia was in action practically all the time and should go a long way. His tackiing and speed makes him a solid player. Mortinlei' ■ proved himself a worthy captain and sound in the important position of first fiveeighths. He dispiayed his ability to find the, * line and gained ground on numerous occasions. Gordon Sciascia, although not quite as solid as his brother, showed his worth by his brilliant intercepting. K. Tritt as half-back was disappointing. He faiied to get the ball away with that precision and determination expected of him. I. Robins on, although failing to show out, was always on the ball and is a most reliable for ward. It would be safe to say that on the day he was not at his best. W. Lincoln played a very rugged and determined game, and fully indicated that he deserved his place in the team. He is a defimte asset to the forwards. J. Woods, if a forward was wanted for a North Island team, would ihave.a great claim on his play on| Saturday. He left the impressionj Jthat he is a reaily fine player. His, I ability in jumping for the ball m| ' the lineouts was "a big asset to [ Horowhenua. j A. Selby, a big solid forward, wa's good but showed signs of tiring to wards the ' end. He is excellent in jthe rucks, being a good hooker. [ A. Fletcher played one of the best j games of his career. He is a fit I player and seems suited to his position as breakaway. He is improving with every game. N. Ngatana is an outstanding forward and his fast following up was his best work. Milroy, though less outstanding, showed up well whenever there was rucking. He was in the thick of it and was a tower of strength to his side. R. Robins'on did good work in the lineouts and has a definite liking for close play.
