On The Links At Otaki

Heavy rain on Saturday morning caused the eancellation of the qualifying round for the Len Shepherd Memorial Cup, which was set to be played by the Otaki Golf Club on Saturday afternoon. Although the rain ceased about 2 p.m., the nine members who turned out, found the greens very heavy, wiui a great deai of surface water lying about. During the afternoon tne Waitohu Stream overflowed and covered a large part of "Kirk's" fairway. Fine weather on Sunday saw a. much larger attendance, and friendly matches were played over a course that was much drier but still carrying some surface water. Next Saturday the second round of the Captain's Trophy will be played, and the- qualifying round for the Len Shepherd will now be played on July 17.
