Received Tuesdav, 9.55 p.m. LONDON, July 6. Reuter's Tel Aviv correspondent says that it is offieially stated that Gount Bernadotte gave the Arabs and Jews until Wednesday to answer his proposal for prolonging the Palestine ceasefire. Gount Bernadotte told kloslie Slievtok that in the event of either or both p:Uj'ties '..no.t agreeing to his pr.oposaij, "it woud-d be assumed that the Secur,ity Council would be eonvened to eonsider appropriate action. " Arab military leaders were reported last night to have rejected Gount Bernadotte 's proposal for an extension of the truce which expires 011 Friday. A Cairo niessage said that the Arab military eommittee met privately for three hours to discuss a proposal which follows their rejection of the peace plan. A member of the eommittee was cpioted as saying: "Each day that passes increases the strength of the Zionists. We have therefore , deeided to resume fighting."
