WELLINGTON, July 6. In .Tune, the worst month for traf fic deaths so far this year, 23 people lost their lives, said the Minister ot Transport (ilr. Hackett) in a state ment today wheti he gave a half-yearly review of traffie, deaths. "So far this year 104 people have died on, our roads, ' ' continued the Minisfer. "Although this shows a marked reduction when compared with the 127 killed for the same period in 3947, this figure is still too tragically high. ' ' Detailed fignres of those killed this year, with figures for 1947 in parentheses, are: — Oceupants of motor-vehi-eles, 49 (47); pedestrians, 27 (26); cyclists, 14 (15); motor-cyelists, 12 (16); ])illion passengers, 2 (3).
