Popular Badminton Players Honoured
Over 40 members of the Ohau Badminton Cmb -recently spent an enjoyaole evening in the Ohau Hall. Following supper, the . president, Mr. J. Bowling, made a preSentation to Miss L. Langtry and Mr. N. Earle on the eve of their marriage. He spoke of the gooci sportsman--ship of Mr. Earie over the years 'that he had been a member of the club. Mr. Earle suitabxy responclea. i A past president of 'the ciub and now a Afe member, Mr. J. Guerin, made a presentation on behaif of members to Mrs. F. Fanning, who had held the office of ciuo secretary for the past eight years. Mr. Guerin mentioned the wonderful work done for the club by Mrs. Fanning over this period, not only as secretary but also on the social side i'n entertaining visitors in inter-club matches, dances and similar occasions. In presenting her .'with a beautiful handbag, he informed Mrs. Fanning that the club had made her a iife member in recognition of her work. Mrs. : Fanning brieAy responded. 1 Badminton was then played until a late hour, many of the foundation members taking part. Judging by the standard.-.of their play, they could still compete favourably with the younger members.
