Charged with breaking and entcring the preuiises of Messrs. Dowsett Ltd., JMain St., Otaki/on the iiight of June 12 . with the iutention of committing tliett, j a Maori truck driver, Rono Meta, married, aged 23, of 34 Abel Smith Street, "WeJJiugton, appeared before Messrs. E. li. liarris aiul P. M. Morgau, J.P.s, in the ilagistrate 's Court at Palmerston North yesterday. On the application of Senior Deteetive O. Power aecused was remanded to appear at Otaki on Thursday, June 24. Senior Deteetive Power stated that he was opposed to bail being allowed m sueh a trifling aniount as aeeused's. own reeognisance of £50 and a suretv | of £50, when the offenees with whieli he was charged were so prevalent by men with previous poliee reeords. Aecused had been fonnd in possession of a large aniount of stolen property, worth over I £100. I There had been no I'hange in the eir- | eumstanees which prompted the Magistrates' C'ourt at Wellington to adinit aecused to bail; in the nanied amount, claimed Mr. J. A; Ongley, for aecused.
