Tnere was a very good attendance at the June meeting of the Paraparaumu Women's lnstiture, whicn was held in the Anglican Haii recently . The meeting was presided over by Mrs. Hartfield. ( Mrs. Caterer was selected as dexegate to the conference which is 1 to be held in Wellington shorcly, Mrs. Banks gave a very inreresting and instructive demonstration on making soit toys. Aii were. charmed witn the dog", Bambi, 'kangaroo _ and rabbit she had oh exhibition. Mrs. Banks was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for her GemonsLratio'n Two tnteresting pnotos and letters were received from Hiliingdon, the sister Institute in England, in acknowledgment of parcels sent. Miss J. Beckett was the winner of the speeial competition. Prizes were won as follows: — Scones without butter: Miss R. Clarkson 1, Mrs. Caverhill 2. Best Flowers: Mrs.. Elveston I, Mrs. W. Price 2.

tSiing-and-Buy Alternoon i A bring-and-buy afternoon was held recently in St. Paul's Anglican ; schoolroom, Paraparaumu, the pro- , ceeds being iri aid of the Anglican ; Board of Missions fund. Wel'i : stocked stalls and tables were in the capable hands of the follow- | ing: — Mrs. Scarfe (produce) ; Mes- I dames A. Mansford and Thompson (sewing and fancywork) ; Miss Sheuring (white elephants) ; Mrs. Rickells (cakes) ; Mrs. Richardson and Mrs. and Miss Udy (afternoon , tea) . 5"- I Miss Kora Lang. played two delightfu'l pianof orte . selec.fcions and Miss M. Dorg entertaified with humorous recitations. Several of those present enjoyed a game of bri'dge, the' winhers"; being Mesdames E. B. Hand and Mrs. D. Sweetman. A competition was won by Mrs. Richardson. Rev. R. Rickells thanked all .those who had worked and alLwho had helped ,to> make the , afternoon so enjoyable and such a sufccess financially.
