WELLINGTON, June 14. As tlieir donation toward tlie United Nations' appeal for children the shipping companie.3 have agreed to carry to its destination point at half scliedule rates of freight all the food bought in New Zealand by the United Nations International Chiidren's Emergency Fund. This was aunouneed by the chairman of the Nationai Appeal Executive (Mr. O. B. Falconer). The shipping companies, he added, also agreed to, carry 10 tons ot chiidren's clothing from New Zealantl free of charge. Mr. Falconer said up to midday today the receipts for the appeal in New, Zealand totalled £234,250 with large t amounts yet to come in. The executive had deeided to close the appeal next JSaturday. This would be marked "by an offieial broadcast statement which he hoped to arrange for Bunday night.
