Electrification Of Main Trunk Railway
WELLINGTON, June 11. "I hope before many years have passed that the Main Trunk railways in both Islands will be electrified," said the Minister of _ Railways, Mr. Semple, at a meeting in Kilbirnie last night. He added: "That is a possible and a practipable proposition. It will take time to do, but I am positive in my own mind that it can be done." The Minister also stated that the hydro electric- works being constructed would costgwhen completed, £36, 000, .000; and their generat1 ing capacity would be 740,000 kilo- ! watts.
