Obituary

MRS. MARY JANE FAIRLEY With the death of Mrs. J. Fairley, which occurred in the Palmerston North Hospital recently, Otaki has lost yet another widely known an'd highly respected resident. Born in Christchurch in 1882, Mrs. Fairley was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Grindrod. In 1884, the family moved to Otaki, taking up residence at the Mill Road crossing. On November 5, 1907, she was married to Mr. John Fairley and the couple took up their home in Woodville. After staying there for some years, they moved to the King Country, where they stayed for ten years. Returning to Otaki about 1919, they settled and for 26 years Mrs. Fairley was a well-known and respected resident of the district. In 1935 she held the seat of Noble Grand in the Rebecca Lodge No. 62 at Otaki. During the war. Mr. and Mrs. Fairley moved to Palmerston North. I Mrs. Fairley is survived by her husband, her only son, Walter Fairley, of Waikanae, and one brother, George Grin'drod, of Feiunn^.
