Record Rainfall In Otaki
Rainfall in Otaki for the month of May create'd a record unpre- ! cedented in this district for many years. Altogether a total of 9.26 inches fell during the month, the heaviest being recorded on Saturday, May 22, when 2.37 inches fell in 24 hours. Rain fell on 19 daysj and there were four light frosts, while snow covered the lower | ranges twice. There were twoj electrical storms and a heavy earthquake shock in a north-south direction was recorde'd at 8.15 p.m. on Monday. •iiie LOtax rainfall for the month of May, 1947, was 1.46 inches.
