Levin Wedding Unites Pioneer Families

The sun shone on a happy bri'de when Melva Joyce, only daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. S. H. Death, was united in holy matrimony to Johil Charles, only son of Mr, and Mrs. J. M. Parsons, on Sat- 1 urday, May 8, at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Levin. The Rev. A. Salmond officiated and Miss E. Anderson played . the wedding music. . The bri'de, who was escorted by her uncle, Mr. W.- S. D'Ath, of Palmerston North, looked charnflng in a graceful, slim-fltting gown of offiWhite embossed cloque, fashioned ; on -classical lines, The low-waisted |frock, which had long close-fitting Isieeves, pointed over the hands, was jfastened at the back with a row of tiny buttons and fell from a full ! skirt to form a circular embroided train. The heart-shaped neckline, which featured a cross-qver bo'dice, was beaded on the right. shoulder and^left hip to correspond. A beautiful embroided tulle- veil was held in place with a coronet of orange blossoms, and she carried a dainty shower bouquet of white I phrysanthemums and ■ maidenhair ifern.

The bride's retinue was composea of her two cousins, Miss Joyce Krivan (chief) and Miss Anhe Hudson (flower girl) . They were dressed alike in blue moss crepe with sequin trimming on shoulder and peplum. Half circlets of bufgandy, chrysanthemunis adorned ther hair. The bridesmaid carried a matching shower bouquet and the flower girl a Victorian pqsy of VlllP ! x The church was tastefully decorated by frien'ds of the bride. The duties of bestman were ably car-; ried out by Mr. B. H, Kenny, of' Blenheim, brother-in-law. of thei | bridegroom. The ushers at tne I church were Mr. L. Allen and Mr. | iW. Salmons, both of Levin, During jthe signing of" the register, Miss iMargaret Irving rendered "O Perfect Love." On leaving the church, tMiss Loris Hudson, cousin of tne bride, presented the bride with a lucky horse-shoe. , The guests were received at the reception room ^of Messrs. A. L. ;Williams, Ltd., by Mrs, O. H. -Hu'dJson, aunt of the bride, wearing a Iblue costume 'with brown hat ana ! accesS04.es and a corsage of autumn shades. Mrs. Hudson was assisted by the bridegroom's ! mother, who was attired in a dusky pink suit with . black hat and ;accessories, and wearing a shoulder spray of cyclamen tonings. The usual toasts were honoure'd, the Rev. A. Salmond acting as toast;master.
