RUSSIAN VIOLATION OF PACTS.
Received Sundav, 7.35 p.m. WASH1N (tTON, May 29. The State Departinent today disclosed 37 specific instances of viQiations of pacts by Russia. The list was submjtted to Congress and the Senate Foreign Relations Committee at the request of 39 Senators. The violations eoncerned Russian disregard of pacts eoncerning Germany, Austria, Eastern and SouthKastern Europe, Korea and Mancliuria. In connection with Germany, the State Department listed ten ^violations including charges that the Roviet had steadfastlv blocked the Four-Povver elforts to tre.it Germany as a singue economie nnit, that it had coerced and oppressed non-Communist political parties, that the Soviet authorities had choked otf freedom of speech by suppression, intimidation and terrorism. Por Austria seven violations were cited involving the introduction of impediments to Austrian economie and political activity. The list also cited Russian abrogation of the Yalta and Potsdam agreements in connection with the Polish elections, by interfering in that country's internal affairs. The pepartmejit cited numerous examples to support its eharge that Ilungaty, Bulgaria and Rumania had been subverted by Russia to totalitarianism. The four violations listed for Korea were in connection with the Soviet refusal to foster the political and economie unity of the. country. In the case of Manchuria the Sovie't was'indicted for the removal of militarv supplies and other material resources and the obstruction of Ciunese re-occupation.
