This opinion was expressed this 2110ming by Mr. Alwyn Moon, president of the Auckland Amateur Athletle .Association and secretary of the provisional committee set up to consider arrangements for the games. Even 011 th'e most conservative est'imate. for gate reeeipts and allowing expenses 011 the "most generous scale, it seemed clear that there would be no difficult.y in linancing the Games in Auckland, he said. A guarantee of £30,000 was called for. The Mayor, Mr. J. A. O. Allum, . had ofOered to .call a meeting of public bodies, business jfirms and prominent. citizens to obtain' the promis'e of this sum so as to enable the application to go forvvard. A suggestioi was that a non-prolit making company with ■ a capital of £30,000 in oue pound shares, might be fonned. The only additional building Construction nbcessary for the sports would be the^erection of a teUi-' porary. additional stand at the Newmarket olyuipic swiiaming pool. It was proposecl that the competitors migut "livjj eitlier a.t the Papakura miJitary camp or Auckland Teachers' Training College. If either could be arraugea, the estimated expenditufe of £12,000 for housing would be reduced eonsiderably. _____
