Trans-Tasman Air Service Suspended
WELLINGTON, April 6. As no charter aircraft is available from any souree in Australia or New Zealand after April 10, the transTasman air service has been suspended until further notiee. This was au- . nounced-by Mr. G. N. Roberts, generai manager of Tasman Empire Airways. He said one modified aircraft, one of the four Sandringham flying 4>oats grounded by the companv on February 2.'! lieeause of engine defects, had been tested to the satisfaction of the companv but it had been decided to have the tests ofiicially coniirmed by the Koyal Australian Air Foree establishment in Australia. It was hoped to flv this aircraft over to Australia 011 Thursday. ■ T,he company hcped its own aircraft would resume the Tasman service late this month or earlv in May. Mr. Roberts said the company regretted the iuconvenieiice the total disruption of the service would cause and assured the travelling public that every avenue was being explored to bridge the ga]i between tlle cessation of the charter fiights and the return to service of the company 's own aircraft-
