FIRST STRIKE FOR 10 YEARS
Twenty thousand vehicle builders and 2000 wood-cutting machinists today commenced the -first big official strihe to occur in Britain in the last 10 years. The men, who are all members of the National Union of Yehicle Builders an 1 of the Wood-cutting Machinists' Society, gave forrnal notiee of theii intention to strike three weeks ago,. aml the notices expired during the weekend without a settlemont being reached. The strikers are asking for an aliround increase of 3d an liour in thei: wages. In addition to the vehicle workers and wood-eutters, the forgemen anb blacksmiths, who are emploved 0:1 vehicle bodv-building, intend to strike In sympathy.
