Native Flora Club Meets
■- A recent meeting of the Levin Native Flora Club' was presided over by the vice-presiaent, Mr. J. F. Bryce, in the hbsence of the president, Mr. I. D. Parsons. Members brought specimens of flora for discussion. A branch covered with the sweet-smelling orchid', Earina Autumnalis, was the chief attraqtion and. was brought from Mr. Bryce's garden. ' A circular from the recently formed Waipoua Preservation Society received Some " consideration. As signatories to the petition for the pr.otection of the Waipoua kauri forest, members agreed to send a donation to the society. •Each mhiber who wishes to contribute is asked to. leave one shilling with Mr. W. Leach at the Levin Post Offiee on or before the date of the next meeting. Members also agreed to collect seeds of 'native trees and "shrubs suitable for growing overseas. An outing has been arranged for April 18, When members will visit the forest reserve beyond Florida Road. Town members wih meet at the post joffice at 10 a.m. At the next .meeting, to be held on Aprl j 22, Mr. R. A. Prouse will display his collection of giant land-snaiis.
