■ AUCKLAND, March 29. Three men were jointly charged before Mr. L. G. H. Sinclai'r, S.M., in the Police.Court today with stealing on Marcli 27, the sum of £47 12a 6d belong-ing'c-o the Auckland Racing Club and on the same date, knowingly making a false totalisator ticke't purported to havp been issned by the Auckland Racing Club, thereby committing forgery. The men charged were Neville Wolfe, aged 30, clerkj John-Proctor Savage, aged 27, labourer; and Douglas Gordon, ag'ejL; 4f5, machine- operatoi'. On the application of the police they .were remanded nntil April 5; Their counsel, Mr. M. RobinsOn, applied, for bail. . Senior Detective Aplin opposed bail. "These men," he said, ' 'were arrested late- on Saturday afternoon. Numerous charges wiJI probabLf be pfefexred but many inquiries are yet to be made. " Mr. RoBinson said two of 'his clients were flrst ofEenders and the other had Only minor matters against him.
