"The Great John L" showing at the ■ Renown" Theatre tonight- i§, -as the title suggests, a history of that greatest of American heavyweights, John L. Sullivan. 'But more than a simple record of Sulliiyan's ability, the film is in fact an unfolding of one of the most fascinating American eras. The story follows Sullivan's life from his start in Boston, where he earne'd the title of "The Boston Strong Boy,". through his famous fights with John Flood, Paddy Ryan an'd Jim Corbett; his f all from grace and his final emergence as one of the most popular figures on the Tlhattauqua circuit.
