Values Buoyant At Levin Stock Market

There were.good quality- yardings of fat stock penned at. the Levin sale yesterday when values, esper cially thbse for sheep, showed a marked incr'ease on previous saies. This was no douht due to • it b'eing the last sale hefore Easter and. the "fact that there will he none hext week. A large yarding of poiiltry carae forward and changed hands at prices in excess of3 Christmas rates. Dairy cattle were penned in stronger numbers and anything close to* profit,. or with calves at foot, sold well. The pig yai;ding was again heavy, but too many unfinished sorts were put before the butchers and di'd not sell. Any well finished pigs; irrespective of weight, were keenly sought after- and' sold well above schedule. A fair yarding' of store pigs came forward, being absorhed in the main by outside purchasers. A few store lambs were penned and showed prices in excess of late rates. The fat cattle yarding was again steady, good quality cows and heifers selling readily. The veafer yarding was poor in quality and consequently values did not main•'tain last week's high level. .The following isra range of prices realised: —

Fat sheep:- Extra prime fat wethers, 42s lOd to 44s lOd; prime fat wethers, 41s lOd to 42s 7d; medium do., down to 39s lOd; prime ewes, 26s lOd to 29s ld; small prime black faces, to 40s lOd; prime lambs, 36s lOd to 40s 4d; medium do., 34s 4d •to 36s ld; .light ■ lambs, down to 30s lOd. Store sheep: Woolly .black faced lambs, 18s - to 22s lOd; shorn white 'faced lambs off sand-hills, 17s 7d. Cattle: Medium vealers, £5 to £5 17s 6d; light do., £2 7s 6d to £4 17s 6d; light P.A. oxen, £15 7sJ 6d; young P.A. cbws and heifers, £14 2s 6d to £14 7s 6d; medium do., £12 2s 6d to £13 7s 6d; light do., down to £10 7s 6d; prime ex-dairy cows, £6 5s to £7 17s 6d; calved cows, £12 10s to £14. Pigs: Heavy baconers, £6 11s to £6 15s; medium'do., £5 10s to £6 2s; lighter do., d-own to £5; heavy porkers, £4 10s to £4 16s; medium do., £3 15s to £4 4s; light and unfinished do., £1 15s to £3 10s; choppers, £5 2s to £6 11s; medium stores, £1 2s to £1 10s; light do., 10s to £1. Poultry: Geese, 9s 6d to. 10s 6d; ducks/5s 8d to 6s lOd; nens, 3s to 5s; young black cockerells, 6s to 8s. -
