Hockey Revived In Levin
An enthusiastie group of citizens this week decided to -revive .the sport of hockey in Levin and also the Horowhenua Hockey Association, which has been defunct fdr many years. Convened by Mr. L. V. Trass, the meeting was largely attended. The •following officers were elected : — Pfesident; Mr. L. V. Trass; secretary : Mr. E. ' Thomas ; committefe : - Messrs. B. Gardner, O. Leask, D. Convery, C. V. -Cheesman, B. Coombes, M. M. Smith, N., Henderson, A. Meads and Mrs. B. Henderson an'd Misses I. Tyree, J. Tyree and P. Coleman. All were keen that a start should be made as soon as possible in the organising of teams, and a further meeting to corisider the re-forma- ' tion of . the Horowhenua Hockey Association. • . It was also decided to renew the application to the Levin Borough Council for permission to use a ground, and if one is available it is hoped to hold an informal practice match at an early date, c'omprising a w.omen's five and men's seven-a-side. It .was also hope'd to stage a tournament and invite outside teams. A meeting was also held at Otaki this week, with the . result that it is hoped to have tfie/two women's teams functioning last year again in action. There is .also the prospect of a male team' being formed. Delegates from Otaki were appointed to attend the next meeting in •Levin.
