John Shanahan (Auckland) elipped two eeeonds off liis own Dominion record for the lOO.yards breaststroke of- : 72 seconds. Bhanahan won this race by live yards from the former frees^vie champion, W. J. Jarvis (Otago), and eollected his second title when he won the. first butterfly chaiiipionship in 68 3-5 .seconds after a keen tussle with T. Logan (Taranaki) wko linished two yards back. P. E. Mathieson (Auckland) wlio won ; his first New Zealand title more than 12 years ago, broke G. Cliff's record of 5min 42 4-5see when lie won tlie 440 yards men's backstroke championship in 5min 39 l-5sec.
