Big Yardings Of Sheep And Pigs At Levin
There were tapacity yardings ofi sheep and pigs at the Levin salei yesterday, when several annuali drafts of doWn-Country ewes were sold. -A fair yarding of store lambs carne fqrward, and Values shoWed a depreciation of two to three shillings per head on saies reported three to four weeks ago, this heing maihly due to "the continued dryj spell and absehce of f eed generally . ' Fat Wethers were in oVer-suppiy and whereas 'extra prime sorts sold! readily, prime and unfinished wethers were not in demand. Fat ewes made schedule prices and prime lambs made to 35s 4d.
The fat cattle yarding was shorter than usual and anything showing quality was keenly sought by the butchers. Small yardings of dairies came fofward and heifers, and co'ws close to profit were keenly sought. The capacity yarding of pigs jnaintained fair values throughout fthe sale, although there was a preponderance of light and unfin- , is'hed animals. Baconers were in short supply and sold well aboye last week's rates. A shorter yarding of store pigs was penned and 1 changed hands at values on a par j with recent riflings.
