AUCKLAND, Feb. 13. Playing its llrst matcli against a Plunket Sliield team, the touring Fijian I cricket team did excoptionally well to ! dismias the Auckland eleven for 340 runs. With 45 minutes to bat Fiji lost ; two wickets for 49. Conditions were ; ideal. j A feature of Auckland 's innings was j the fifth wicket partnership between j W. M. Wallaee, who scored 108, and O. j C. Cleal, who iinished with 77 to his ! credit, the pair. adding 143 runs in 172 1 minutes. At oue stage Auckland haJ ! three of its -leading batsmen back in the pavilion with onlv 75 runs on the ' board. Wallaee ran to 50 in 90 minutes. 1 i^cluding. four fours, and his century } took 164 minutes with 10 fours. Cleal ran to 50 in 73 minutes, including six fours. , Except for a few lapses iu catehing and ground work, the fielding of the Fijians was excellent. The most suecessful Fijian bowler was Aria.
