Herd Improvement Figures The f ollowing are the group averages for cows tes.ted during January by the Wellington-Hawke's Bay Herd Improvement Association: — Shannon-Foxton area: Herds 24, cows 1451, milk 703 lbs., test 4.76, fat 34 lbs. Highest herd: two Herds, fat 44 lbs. Opiki-Toko-maru area: Herds 28, cows 1429, milk 630 lbs. test 4.88, fat 31 lbs. Highest herd: cows 33, fat 391bs. Carpentry Trainees A letter from the acting Rehabilitation Officer at Palmerston North was received by the Shannon Borough Council and stated that it will not be possible to arrange an extehtion of the carpentry trainees system in Shannon. The mam problems being transport and accommodation. However, the rehabilitation department will endeavour to encourage Shannon trade trainees to return to this town after they have completed their training at the board's centre.
