BLENHEIM, Feb. 9. The former professional sculling champion of New Zealand ' 'Paddy" Hannan and ihe- former "champion dinghy puller J W of '-'Queen "Charlotte Sound, "Teddy" Hartley Row, of Wellington, rowed a challenge match oji Picton Harbour at the weekend. The rules for the match provided for a course of'four miles for Hannan, in a sldl'f, and 21 miles for Hartley in a double-ended dinghy. There was no doubt about the deeision Hannan winning by a quarter of a mile. Hannan, who is an ofticer attachedyto the Department of Physical Education, said afterwards: "I accepted the challenge to show younger rowers the eorrect methods of training. There is no reason why a man shouldn't maintain his stamina even tliough age creeps upon him." Hannan is now in his 64th year. -•
