At the age of IS he came to New Zealand and in 1893 tqqk up land m the Pongaroa district, moVipg^ to Whakarongo Six years later,. It was in 1899 that he was married -at Pahiatua to Miss Helen Annie Poad. After residing in Palmerston North for seven years, Mr. and Mrs.- TEylor moved' to Manakau- and later to Muhunoa East, where Mr.

Taylor tpok up sheep farming. In 1913 he established himself . pn land -at Arapaepae Road and lived there until his death.. , , . , - Mr. Taylor was a director of the Manawatu Gorge Lime Company and for nipe years was a member of tlie Manawatu Mouhted Rifies. He served on the Whakarongo, Muhunoa and Koputaroa School •Committees for 14 years. He wa.-s _ at oue time a member of the now defunct "Otaki River Board . and rendered valuable help to the Horowhenua A., and P. Association as a member since its inception.For over 20 years Mr. Taylor was president of the - Levin branch of the Labour Party and was twice chosen as one of its candidates for Parliamentary honours, once for Oroua and later Manawatu. He became a member -of the Horowhenua County Patriotic Associa.tion, a body set UP after the 191418 war to eare for the interests of returned seryieem-en. He also represented - the Labour Party .on the local .unemployment committee for some time. Mr. Taylor took an active interest in the Horowhenua Jersey Cattle Breeders' -Club, and for the past three years had been patron of that organisation. During later years he had been a member of the Centrai Bowling Club.. "' He is survived by his wife,, seven sons, Mr, Ian Taylor (Levin) , Mr. Murray Taylor (Levin), Mr. Norris Taylor (Tauranga), Mr. Pepis Taylor (Levin), Mr. Jack Taylor (Paraparaumu) , Mr. Noel Taylor ' (Tauranga) and Mr. Edward Tay--lor (Wellington), and three ,daugh^ ters. Mrs. J. G. Horn (Ohau)-,. Mrs. R. F. Hodge (Tauranga) and' Mrs. B. Schwass (Auckland).
