The Sale Of Sales As Others Saw It
r * » — ^ America obviously has nothing to learn from New Zealand as far as high pressure salesmanship is conrerned. 11 Reoentl'y,; it' may be 'recalledpthe question of whether a sale shoul'd be; or should not be, held in the Upper Hutt saleyards focussed attention on an interesting dispute. A short film was made of the eventful day on which the sale took place and a few days ago it was shown at an Upper Hutt theatre. An advertisement in a weekly newSpaper, drawing attention to the film, makes one wonder whether the Press accounts really did the occasion full justice. The advertisement reads: — "Sale Yards Dispute — Farmers v. Council. Midst thundering "herds, flying hoofs, clouds of dust and a hearty 'Heigh O, Silver,' there descended orr Upper Hutt, not the j lone ranger, but hosts of local I farmers in defiance of the Borough authorities' ban on holding their sale. • . "To be or not "to be — that was the question — the sale was held! See your local 'cowboys' in action! See the 'armed' jeep! . . ' See . the great cattle drive ! . (Managerial: Any likeness of any 'of the characters in the film- to any film star is nurelv a coincidence) .
