British Benefactor Makes Further Gift
Mr. Rupert Turner- 63-year-old retired business magnate, walked up to the door of St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church, Ruxton, rang the bell, placed an envelope in the letter-box and walked away. When. Father Alfred BaMwin opened the envelope he found a cheque for £10,000 to go to a fund for the Pudding of a new modern secondary school. And Mr. Turner — the man who has given £1,000,000 away "to help England" —had made another gift. The day before he called for a ,chat with his friend Father Bald1 win, who was'fieing *host""'th some children at a fancy-dress party, Mr. Turner was invited to lqok at the children, and he agreed to stay and present the prizes, In the letter he sent with the cheque he, said that he was so impressed by the children that he sent the money "to purchase at once the land for your new school, and the balance will, I beiieve, build it." Mr. Turner, who is a Protestant, added: "Because I believe in my heart that your old Roman Catholic Church can teach the children discipline and to honqur Gqd and England, I make this gift to you gratefully." •
