AUCKLAND, Jan. 3U. The Vietoriati ketch Kurrewa III at 7 o'clock tonight had a lead of 40 miles on the Peer Gynt, the second boat in ihe Tasman yacht race. • According to a message from Sydney the Kurrewa • III was 330 miles east of Sydney and the Peer Gynt 370 miles. The third Australian entry, the Wayfarer, was 430 miles east and Ihe two Auckland entries, Eangi and Drifter, were in fourth plaee an unstated number oi miles behind the Wayfarer. The positions of the Seaward (Tauranga e.ntry), Pagan (American entrant) and Te Hongi (Wellington) were unknown.
