Vendor Was Purchaser In Land Sales Case
A peculiar application for the sale-of proiperty and a business where the vendor was also the purohaser came before the Wellington District Rural Land Saies Coihmittee when it began a sitting in Wanganui this wee'k. Before the committee was the unusua! sight "qf the same. grqup. of people represepted- by two sQlicitors, qne actipg fpr them as the vepdors and the other appear-ing on their hehalf as the purohasers. The apparent auopialy was explained by Mr. R, S, Withers, appearing for the Yendorg. The4 land and business, he said, were- the estate of the late P. Rristoi whiph F. N- 'S, Bristol and C- g. Bristql, who were trustees of the estate, now desired to purehuse, Tq do this, it had been necess,a'r,y to petitiqn the Suprepie Court apd the application had been made to enable the committee to fix a. price whichwould then be given to the court. He added that he appearefl qn hehalf of the trustees as vendqrs an.d also for- a number of other heneficiaries, some of whopi were minors, Appearing for the purcha^eys, Mr. O. N. Armsfropg reminded the oommittee fhat trustees, were unable to purehase property under their eare except "in exceptiohal oircumstance'S. since §ome Qf the benefloiaries . were minors and the , purchasers desired to ' find t|ie fairest possib.le price, the congideration ipvolyed had heen set at a camparatyvely high 'level to enaQle the committee tq set their prjc.e." The committeev reserved i'ts decision.
