Jn presentmg her annual report; the president, Mrs. Burdekin, thanked the work--e?s who had sq ioyaUy aesisted in preparing the shipment of 3365 garments and a parcel of toys, for Ghin'a. • " "The need in China is great, greater- than we can realise in this favoured country, and I feel sure' that the §ame help will be forth-; ooming this year," she said. The branch had also sent overseas threq drums of fat. Mrs. Burdekin tlien extended her thanks to all those who assisted in the clothes driye, to ail" who gave • sueh generous cash donations /and to the public for their gener-osity. Thanks wer,e also due to fhe secretary-treasurer, Mrs. T. " C. DeMay, the Methodist Ladies' Guild, Queen Street Hall, Roman. Oatholic Ladies' Guild, Riipberley Road Guild, girls of the HoroWhenua Coliege and Miss Qhap-man-Cohen, Mes.dames Brpoks and • Bland and the mahy farmers who had donated wool fleeces.- * The election of officers for the year resulted as foilows: — ^Rresident: Mm- H. B- Burdekin- vicepresident: Mrs. G. Lester; secre= tar>y-.treasurer: Mrs. T. C. DeMey; sewing cir'cle supervisors: M®sdames DeMey and'Lestqr; auditor: Mr. H. W. S. Walker. The incoming committee wa$ given authority "to add to its number at any time during the year: The clothes drive will be field on Saurday, February £1 and it is expected that althqugh the gcouts will not be allowed tq congregate, they will take part in the drive. The annual street .day appeal Will be held on Friday, May 21.
