LEVIN FIRE PREMIUMS

New Classificatroa for Boroogh The council o'f 'Ahe Fire Underwriters' Associations has advised the Levin Borough Council that it has decided to extend the "E" plassification to certain areas of the borough, as from May l as detailed in a plan fOrwarded. The classifications afe introdueed for the purpose of the fixing by insurance ' Companies of fire premiums for hOuses and buildings, and are governed by the-size of water inains and the pressure of the supply. It iS Understood that the new classificatio'n will have the effect of reducing premiums in certain areas outside ' the main business area which are at preseht clasSified as "F:" Comrrienting on the letter at Monday night's meeting of the Borough Council, the Mayor, Mr. H. B. Burdekin, said that the reclassification was the result of representations made to.the association by the council, and that a large nufliber of persons in the borough would benefit. The plan enclosed was almost identical with the one for - the .council's proposed sewerage scheme.
