TAURANGA, Jau. 17. Ou a conservative estimate betweeii . 15,000 and 20,000 dozen empty beer bottles will have been collected at Mount Maunganui after the hoJiday period. The value of the. beer consumed during the ten days is therefore in the vieinity of £15,000 or £1500 each day, One firrn engaged in colleetion on a large seale stated that as a result of a few trips to Mount Maunganui, 2000 dozen "empties" had been collected. The activities of the firm had almost been coniined to visits to canips which had yielded the total of 2000 dozen. Since December 26, the collections had been made solely at Mount Maunganui, and with the pressure of business in this busy period of the year the Tauranga township and its inmiediate environs had not been visited during and since the holiday season.
