WANGANELLA TO BE DOCKED ON MONDAY
^ W ELLIN GTON, Jan. 16. After being kept afioat by eompress ed air for what is believed to be a world' record time — sinee the end oi May — the liner Wanganella is expecteu to move from Clyde Quay whart to tln floating dock on ALonday inonu'ng', tlu anniversary of the day on whien slu struck Barrett's Reef. The plain, which have been made are subject to the. weather being suitable but unless there is a particulariy high wind,v the Wanganella will be moved aeross thi liarbour by three tugs. The shipV engines will not be used as tlie vibra tion from them might afi'ect the sealing of tlie forepart of the ship and buoyancy gained from the compressed air The ship will move stern first until neai the dock when she will be turued to enter bow first. In the eight months the vessel hai been at Clyde (^uav, 100,000,000 cubic feet of air has been used, which h equivalent to one and a third scjuare miles of air one yard deep. At atmos pheric pressure the depth of tlie equiva lent air would be ten feet. The chief engineer, ALr. ,T. Wylie said today that owing to the excellenl sealing w.ork done'on number 3 hold those on board had had a minimum oi worry. A few Jeaks had oecurred hui they were soon discovered aud repair ed. Apart from minor troubles there had been 110 failures of the maehinery in use.
