LONDON, Jan. 16. Tlxe Royal Mint will soon begin strik-i-ng milions of cupronniekel medats. They will be the wai" medal 1939-45 which will be granted to fnll-tinie personnel of the armed forces wherever they served. The only qualific&tion will be to have served for 28 davs between 2/9/39 and 2/9/45. There is no "distinction between v operational and non-operational serviee, The war- medaj will be in addition to* the campaign stars and defence medal. Its reverse side, designed and modelled by Mr. E, Carter Preston, shows the lion standing triumphant on a double-headed dragon, The dragon 's two heads—eagles an6 dragons— signify the principal occiden' tal and oriental enemies. The obversf bears the JEing's head, crowned.
