WELLINGTON, Jan. 15. A settlement of the waterfront dispute over the. dismissal of more than 100 men on Tuesday evening has been reached on ths bringing down of a decision by . the Waterfront Industry Commission, which discussed the question with representatives of the employers and the union. The decision provides that on account of the conflict of evidence as to when the men left the various jobs, the circumstances shall be investigated by the Wellington port committee anfl pending that investigation, all men dismissed are to be reinstated. Men found to have been properly dismissed are to be replaced at the .end of their jobs. The port committee's decision. regarding spelling is to he observed. The decisjon was accepted by the watersiders at their monthly stopwofk meeting today. The port committee agreement on spelling is that under which the employers and unions eliminated the .hour about spelling, and fixed the times for leaving jobs prior to meal breaks and at night,' and under which "smoko" periods are provided.
