• • ' - ' FEWER DEATHS AND MARHIAGES The total births recorded in Levin during 1947 numbered 222, an increase of 31 over 1946. Marriages showed a decrease, there being 79 as against 87 in 1946. Fewer deaths ocurred, 69 being registered as com,pared With 73 in 1946. , / The statistics for the month of December were as folloWs, the figures for the ' 'corresponding month of 1946 being given in parentheses; Deaths, 6 (8) ; marriages, 1 (10) > 'births, 18 (1-3). There is a.sub.stantial drop in ■ the number of marriages usual during this month of the year, but no explanation can be given for it.
