They were ploughing their way tlirough a blinding snowstonn behinil schedule ,wlien the second seetion of the train bored tlirough all but four feet of the rear Pullman of the first seetiou. The wreekage had to be cut away with blow-torches to enable the loeomotive to be towed out. •«£ The aceident oecurred at about^ a.m.. when many of the passengers were still in bed or just rising. The bedrooms, jlrawing-rooms and . occupants were crushed into the narrow space at the front of the Pullman car, from which the bodies were taken after hours of work.
