RENOWN THEATRE

The film, "The Rake's Progress," opens with the interior of an armoured car, in which is the Rake, Lieut. Vivian Kenway and Sergeant Fogroy (Guy Middleton) , who are on reconnaissance in France. They arrive at a bridge, and Kenway decides to cross it to find out if it has been mined. We leave the armoured car slowly descending the hump of the bridge. From here on, the story is told by the voice of the only woman the Rake ever loved, Jennifer Calthrop •(Margaret Johnston) . She takes us back to Trafalgar Square on Armis■tice Night, 1918, with Vivian Kenway as a small boy of 10 watching the celebrations with a Coldstream Guardsman and an "Old Sweat."
