INTOXICATED DRIVER FINED

James Ferrier Norrie, stated to be a naval man now resident in Waiouru, was apprehended at Otaki on Saturday and later charged before Messrs. H. Nicolson and W. McBeth, J.P.'s, with being intoxicated while in charge of a car. Traffic Inspector Harris gave evidence as to Norrie's condition while a medical statement was to . the effect that although not drunk, he was intoxicated and not fit to drive a car. Defendant admitted that he ! had had drink, and pleaded guilty to the charge as laid by Constable W. Calwell. A fine of £10 was inflicted and Norrie's license cancelled for twelve rnonths.
