BOATING TRAGEDY AT TANGIMOANA
A boating tra^edy occurred at Tangimoana 011 (Saturday afternoon when Air. Ravmond Waldin Humphrey, oi AlaKiuo, lost his iife. 'l'ogether with Alr. A. B. Alair, son of Alr. and'Alrs. J. AI. Alair, of Lees Line, Feilding, tlie deceased went out fishing in a snmii lioat driven by an outboard motor. lt appears that they had concluded their" fishing and were returning to Tangimoana when xnisfortune interrupted progress. The boat was negotiating Ihe bar at the niouth of the Rangitikei Kiver when it was swamped, a fact attributed to the weight ot the outboaru motor at the stern. Both young men were some hours in the water hoiding 011 to tlie craft and Alr. llumphrey apparently became ill from the afL'ects of iimnersion and collapsed and subsequently died. The deceased was a son of Alr. anu Alrs. Arthur Humphrey, well -known settlers of Alakino, who are at present visiting Timaru.
