o- — The winners of last year.'s- pairs, Symonds and Mclntyre, will 'defend their title, though this year Mclntyre will play lead. Other pairs contenders are Taylor's J from Caiiton, two from Martin- ! borough and one e^ch from Palmerston North -and Dannevirke. The most notable entries in the pairs, however, are twelve from the Bntish Columbia team. The Canadian bowiers and their wives will be met 011 their arrival at Wellington on December 30. On January 1 and 2 the visitors • will play in the pairs tournament. Provision has been made for wives of local bowiers to meet and entertain the .visitors' wives. Includecl in the entertainment will be after - noon tea and an evening social at the Wellington club on Saturday, January 3. On Saturday, the tourists will be taken for a motor excursion, under I the auspices of the Wellington Centre, to Otaki, where Mr. A. D. Webster will assist in the entertainment. The record entries received for the Christmas fours and the New Year pairs of the Wellington Bowling Centre 's holiday touraments have been slightly increased by late entries. No fewer than 27 greens will be necessary- to accommodate the fours, and 32 greens for the pairs. Sixteen fours and 22 pairs will play on the Paraparaumu Beach, Paekakariki and Otaki greens. The tournament will be played in 16 sections, two of them j being allotte'd to the northern ' greens. The centre secretary, Mr. C. R. Ingram, is already at work on the charts.'
