Jn a thrilling match the result of which depended ou the doubles betwoen the top pairs, Wellington, beat Hutt Valley (the holders) for thc Nunneley Casket by seveu rubbers to iive. The scores wero three all after the first day and only two sets were completed on Saturday, rain then causing play to be abandoned. The conditions were ideal today wlien thc match was concluded. Wellingto led by six rubbers to flvc when the final doubles match was played and had Hutt Valley won this it would have retained the trophy, having an advantage in sets. Wellington rccovered from 1 — 1 to win the first set but lo^t thc second set after leading 5 — 2. In the fjnal set Wellington raced away into a 5 — 1 lead, but amid excitement Hutt Valley drew up to 4 — 5, only to lose the next game and the match. Results (Wellington names first): Singles: Mrs. McKay beat Mrs. Graham 7 — 5, 2 — 6, 6 — 3; Mrs. Paiuter lost to Mrs. Robb 2—6, 4- -6; Miss Fleming beat Miss McNeill 7 — 5, 4 — 6, 6 — 4; Mrs. Green beat Miss Pudding 6 — 8, 9 — 7, 6 — 4. Doubles: Mesdauies McKay and Painter beat Mesdames Graham and Robb 6—4, 6—8, 6—4; Miss Fleming and Mrs. Green lost to Misses McXeill and Pudding 5 — 7, 5 — 7. Wellington, 7 rubbers, 1-4 sets; Hutt Valley, 5 rubbers, 15 sets.
