Received Sundav, 7.30 p.m. SYDXEY, Xov. 30. After a gruelliug five set match last- ' ing 21 hours Adrian Quist beat the American .Tim Brinks in the final of the Xew South Wales si'ngles tennis championship 6 — 4, 6 — 2, 2 — 6, 4 — 6, 6 — 3. Quist called the tune in tactics throughout the match and only Brinks' speed and determination saved liim in the early stages. Xevertheless the American forced Quist to play his best tennis since he won the Australian title in 1940. Before the match Quist had a novocaine injection to deaden the aehe of an injured stomacli muscle.
