MAN INJURED IN CAR SMASH

ONE DRIVER CHARGED IN LEVIN COURT Foliowing a head-bii collision between two cars' near Kuku . on Saturday, W. Stretch, of Paekakariki, a passenger '* in dne 'of the vehicles, was taken to the Palmerston North Hospital suffering from multiple cuts and abrasions to the head. The car in which Mr. Stretch was a passenger was driven by Mr. J. Smith, who escaped with ay culs _over one eye. The other car, which "was 'travelling south, was driven by Lawrence Andrewartha. He was not injured. The accident occurired just south of the KukuManakau dairy factory about 10.10 p.m. In the magistrate's court this morning, the driver of one of the vehicles, John Smith appeared before Messrs. D. J. Gardiner and M. del Wright, J.P.'s, charged with being intoxicated while in charge of a motor vehicle. On the application of Sergeant W. Grainger, a remand till December 12 was allowed. Bail was granted on the defendant's recogniSance for the sum of £50.
