LARGE GATHERING AT LEVIN CLUB'S COURTS On Saturday afternoon the Levin Tennis Club's courts were thronged with the best muster of members so far this season. In the past week several further matches in the club's handicap competitions have been decided, but as there are several first-round games outstanding, the closing date for this round has been extended to Sunday next. Some second round matches have also been played. Results:-*- .. Fifst round.--Ladiesv singles: Miss Cameron beat Miss Hall 7 — 6, Miss Bell beat Miss A. Fletcher 7 — 2, Miss Maclean beat Miss Hocking 7—2. Second round. — Combined doubles: Parker and Miss Bell beat S. J. Thompson and Miss ChapmanCohen 9 — 6. Men's doubles: Benning and Mcllraith beat Roskruge and Wardell 9 — 7. Ladies' doubles: Miss Karauti and Mrs. Porter beat Misses Kilsby and Chapman-Cohen 7 — 1. The first round of the captain'strophy commences at 2 p.m. sharp on Saturday next. There are five rounds to play in all, the best four to count, and each round to consist of three sets 6-up, with no advantage. As far as possible the sets will be combined, doubles.
