CHARGED WITH MURDERING SISTER

WELLINGTON, Nov. 5. Following tlie (liseovery of the body of Miss Editli Hwan, aged 67, lying in. tlie sunroom of her home at Eastbourne, this morning, her sister, _Winxfred .Vlargaret Swan, aged 59, spinster, was charged with murder. The two women, well-known and respected residents of Eastbourne, lived at 13 Tuatoru Street where the tragedy occurred. It was dicovered by a third sister, JMrs. Rogers, who resides in the same street, when she called to visit them. Discovering the body lying in the sunroom with a toinahawk nearby, Mrs. Kogers called Dr. Hugh. l'aterson who found the woman dead with a fraetured skull. He notilied Gonstable Gliapman, police officer at Eastbourne. Dr. Paterson. told the police that death had occurred within an hour. Acconipanied by Senior Detective W. Mcl^ennan and Detective Sergeant H. J. le Sueur, Jnspector Bruce Thompson went to Eastbourne and later arrested the accused woman at Mrs. Rogers' house. Appearing before Mr. Goulding, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court shortly before 4 p.m., accused, a neatly-dressed wlnte-haired woman, was remanded to Arohata Reformatory until November 12, the Magistrate receiving an assurance from Senior Detective McLennan who appeared for^the police that she would be well cared for. Accused, who appeared numbed and scarcely to realise the proceedings, broke into sobs as she was eondueted. from the dock to the prisoner's room.
